Contains eight sources of dietary fibre. This balanced blend of insoluble and soluble fibre types promotes optimal hindgut health and normal gastrointestinal motility. Hydrolyzed starch supplies glucose, disaccharides, and oligosaccharides, which avoids the osmotic problems associated with feeding only glucose. Vital for the acute carbohydrate needs associated with debilitation. Intensive care nutrition products are indicated for debilitated, cachectic patients; individuals with reduced digestive capacity, highly stressed patients needing the minimal numbers of feedings, and/or patients that require additional calories to maintain or gain weight. Feed immediately or refrigerate in a plastic bag for up to one day- simply reheat the plastic bag in a warm water bath before feeding. Feed as the sole diet for 10 days or less unless directed otherwise by your veterinarian. For patients with poor weight gain or malabsorptive conditions, EmerAid can also be mixed with the regular diet to boost enterocyte function and enhance digestion (25%-30% EmerAid; 70%-75% regular diet).

What is Emeraid IC Herbivore Intensive Care Nutrition by LaFeberVet?

When fed for longer than 1 month, supplement EmerAid ® Intensive Care HDN™ Canine daily with 1% fish oil on a dry matter basis. When EmerAid HDN is fed to lactating animals longer than 1 week, it is recommended that the diet be supplemented daily with 1% fish oil (DMB). The NRC recommends a level of 0.11 g/1,000 kcal ME of a combination of DHA and EPA for adult dogs. Exotic EmerAid products can also be fed in combination to best meet the needs of special species that have varied diets, including box turtles, bearded dragons, chameleons, skinks, aquatic turtles, geese, many free-ranging songbirds, hedgehogs, as well as mice, rats, gerbils, and hamsters.
