About this deal

So in this case I’m gonna suggest a Reaction after you take damage to allow a nearby fighter, let’s say within 6 inches, to take a free move action. It’s trading a single action for a single action so it’s not action efficiency but it will let the war band sacrifice one fighter to get another into position which feels thematic. We won’t let the puppies them though, so let’s add a not useable by beasts clause. The big guy is Aemos Duncarrow. I suspect he’s the Woodsman out of the Red Riding hood legend. From the quotes I’ve seen from him on the cards, he’s neither slow or dumb, although I am going to give him the Brute runemark along with the Destroyer one. Tools of the Faithful: I don’t think you’re going to get this round 1 and I think you’re going to have a hard time in round 3 due to wound pool the warband totes. This is most likely a round 2 card. Keep in mind, this doesn’t specify hunters so your dogs can come in clutch if need be. I personally like my end phase cards scorable in all phases of the game and this one is just too unpredictable for me. The second approach is to go through the compendium and work out an existing profile we could use. This will require some compromises but it will be tournament legal, with approval from the TO for proxies. Bane of Evil: Similar to Army of One, you’re putting all of your hopes and dreams into your last standing hunter. I think Haskel’s inspire halts him from fully committing to this card. He needs to put himself in harms way to inspire 2 of your fighters. I think when it works, it’s going to feel great. I suppose at minimum it’s a Great Fortitude if he’s not the first hunter casualty. That’s not too bad but there are going to be games where he just instant dies and this becomes a dead card in your hand.

In underworlds, the war band has a reaction after a friendly takes damage which will give the nearby units a boost, either an upgrade from hand without spending glory, or removing a move or charge token which allow the unit to move again. The four humans also have a special reaction that they can use when a fellow hunter is taken out of action. Haskel himself is well aware of the Price of Victory , and when he gets really angry, he lights his truefire brand. A special thank you to Games Workshop for providing me with this review copy ahead of time for free. The last aspect we have here is the average damage against toughness 4. In the understanding fighters video I suggested looking for 1 dmg for every 25 points, but that was an extremely aggressive profile on the basis that we’d be looking for the cream of the crop. Looking at the averages 1 damage per 40 points is probably reasonable.Anvilspire • Eshunna • Greenfire • Helmgard † • Ravensbach • Sephyrum † • Tabar • Tansis † • Uliashtai There’s only two one wound fighters in Warhammer Underworlds, Spinefin, and the Brimstone Horrors, so Grotbiter and Ratspike are going to be the lowest, or tied for lowest, wound fighters on most Underworlds boards. There is some debate about whether the dogs who “can’t be Hunters” can benefit from [Punching Up] at all since it would have to make them hunters to fully resolve, but for now it’s a theoretically nice temporary damage boost for them. [Leeched Strength] is less controversial. Even inspired the dogs only hit for one damage, but with their reaction letting them move around they should frequently find themselves next to someone stronger who they can wrestle the weapon from and start hitting with it. The Freeguild General is probably the best option especially as the destroyer abilities for the Cities of Sigmar work well, but I’m going to go with the Warden King instead. Almost the same, but with more wounds and tougher in exchange for movement 3. So he’ll be a bit lumbering. Again, this might be a case where we play with one profile to try it out an then decide whether to shift over. Now we have an idea of what we’d like the profile to look like, we can go through the existing profiles and see if there is something that would match. That means looking through the compendium until you find what you like, or you can take the spreadsheet and filter to try get something close to what you want. Miniatures in this box are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel paints.

Ward of the Martyr’s Blood: This card feels strong when your opponent’s warband is relying on modifiers to take you out. I have mixed feelings because your warband is low on wounds so they don’t necessarily need the damage. I suppose I do kind of like it. It literally just negates a Punching Up. You can even bait it out a bit by forcing your opponent to commit to playing a couple more cards before playing this to really shut them out in the next activation. I think this is a card that can be a great tech piece. I might be higher on it than I should but the mental anxiety this can induce in an opponent could be worth it over the course of multiple games. By Hook or by Crook: This is great. Reducing damage is awesome. Reducing damage as a reaction is amazing. The stipulation for the upgrade curbs the excess early in the game but it’s still usable. It also allows your opponent some counter play/planning which is fair. It doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a great card. Prayers of the Faithful: I think this is more of a rivals card than championship. It’s essentially a more balanced No Time.Miniatures come on an odd grey plastic sprue. They go together well with no real issues. My favourite model is Hexbane as he’s easily converted into a Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor.

Sanctified Sharpening Stone: Determined Effort is probably better because it ignores the hunter restriction. Again good for rivals, mediocre for championship. Here we have the full custom war band with all 6 fighters. I’m sure after a few games I’ll be looking to make more tweaks, but right now we’re able to get this warband on the table which is a big step. Anvalor • Brighthall † • Brightspear • Callidium • Draconium † • Edassa • Fort Denst • Ipsala • Rozh • Vandium Uncover the Truth: This is certainly doable, and can possibly be quite reliable in the early to mid stages of the game. Round 3 is a toss up. I just tend to avoid cards that force me to be on a specific side of the board. If my opponent is the beatdown, why would I run up to them and make it easier for them to take out my fighters? Before anyone gets excited, this video isn’t about a GW release for Underworlds fighters. As of this video, we’re still waiting. In the meantime, I am going to talk about how to get beautiful models like these onto the table for a game of Warcry. I’ll he looking at two different approaches.Reflecting Mask: Flavor text is hilarious. I think this card can be a great deterrent in certain matches. It’s a feels bad card for your opponent. Kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of deal when placed on the right fighter. I like that it forces your opponent make a hard choice and smart players will capitalize on either scenario. I feel like Brydget is the worst and best hunter in this warband. Un-inspired, she feels like someone you want to use as bait. However, when inspired (which is hard to do reliably) she becomes a terror. But that’s the thing, she’s not meant to be survivable. The fighters in this warband are built to die. They’re also built to take the enemy with them. Brydget can do that. You might only get one go – she is the very definition of a glass cannon. But boy when she goes off, it’ll be spectacular. Maybe even game defining.

Wounds follow a nice linear relationship to points, I don’t know whether the designers work out the points or the wounds first but we’ll be going for the wounds first and working out the baseline points from that. We can then make adjustments as needed. That averages out to 5.3 which is probably a little high for 100 points, we can bring it down to 3 strength to try adjust it and turns out we’ve just made the Company Captain profile from the Arkanauts but with with +1 move for 10 more points. Let’s up her points slightly to make up for that, so now she’s 120 points and we leave it there for the stats. Grashrak's Despoilers • Skaeth's Wild Hunt • Grymwatch • Rippa's Snarlfangs • Wurmspat • Hrothgorn's Mantrappers • Morgwaeth's Blade-coven • Morgok's Krushas The remaining cards aren’t as interesting but provide a lot of small synergies to make Grotty and Ratty shine. [Silent Armour] and [Outrun Death] both have the potential to trigger for multiple move actions made with the ‘Loyal Hound’ reaction, and there’s a few more silent relics to support them. The Hexbane’s Hunter upgrade all help to make the dogs and their master more survivable, and [Winged Death] simply fills out the surge objective allowance (with the expectation it’ll score on a ranged kill). [Underdog] was of course compulsory. Armed with guns, axes, crossbows, and faithful hounds, these zealous hunters may just stand a chance of overcoming the tenebrous might of the shadow daemons who occupy the maddening halls below Harrowdeep – provided they pray to Sigmar ardently enough.Lives Well Spent - A dual two glory objective that requires you to score three objectives, and have two or more friendly hunters out of action. This makes it perfect for custom games using unofficial profiles. This also lets us focus in on a particular setting. When the original game came out, it was very thematically focused on the Chaos warbands and the current season is doing similar with the Gnarlwood forest.
