Side tension straps are linked to the hipbelt. By tightening these straps you can stabilise the load but reduce the hipbelt flexibility. Where balance is critical tightening them can help you feel more secure. However, if you are striding out over easy terrain it’s better to loosen these straps to allow full hip flexibility. If you needhydration reservoir compatibility, look no further. That said, a few users have reported having issues securing the reservoir, but from what I can tell, that situation is more of an exception than the rule.

Short answer: Yes it is! However, the Osprey hydration reservoiris not included and is sold separately.However, note that there are some exceptions to the All-Mighty Guarantee. They will not fix accidental damage, hard use, wear & tear or damp-related damage. Still, it’s a lot better than most guarantees on the market and another plus point for the Osprey Skarab 30.
