The story follows 4 friends Tress& Max and Anya& Noah. Tress heads into early labor right after Max heads off on a business trip with Anya. Why can Tress not get in touch with Max...I'll tell ya why, cuz he's hitting it with his bff's wife and they're not really where they told their spouses they would be. So if you can get past the infidelity your heart really breaks for Tress & Noah. Nancy’s POV was interesting too, and I was glad to see everything come together at the end. The found family trope was heartwarming to read.

I did get the emotional aspect of the book, the realism as well, but the stupid decisions I did not, and some of the ignorance the characters held about the people they knew. On March 18, 2000 she got her first ;publishing deal at 3 pm. At 4 pm, she learned she was pregnant.

We have the story with several plotlines going on - each character is facing a huge decision, or major upturn within 24 hours of their day. Before that, all is going smoothly and as comfortably as life in small towns does.

My Thoughts: This book grabbed me from the first sentence through the end. Unique premise of this all takes place in a day. When Tress waves her husband off to work, she has no idea that she will go into labor and cannot locate Max. Max’s best friend, Noah, also has no idea that his wife, Anya, has been lying to him. Finally, the neighbor between the couples, Nancy, has the chance at meeting her first love again. You travel along all of these characters for a twenty-four period of life, some altering events, that breaths a sliver of hopefulness. Anya: Age 34 - Sales director at Bralatech. Married to Noah. She met him on the first day at Glasgow University. Her work is sold in numerous countries around the world, including Russia, the US, Poland, Germany, Malaysia, and Australia. Shari has also written as Shari King, Ronni Cooper, and Millie Conway. While “women’s fiction” is not my go-to genre, I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would; I didn’t want to put it down. I particularly enjoyed the humorous bantering among the widow and her friends, women “of a certain age.” Shari Low weaves a great tale. My first five star read of the year.

Man, I was not expecting to feel so much when I started this book. This would make a fantastic book club selection. There is so much to discuss here. I found this book to be well written and well thought out. I also enjoyed the pacing. It’s a heartbreaking story in some ways but also one of new beginnings. For the most part it unfolded about like I was expecting except for the ending. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author. Max's best friend, Noah Clark, also said goodbye to his wife, Anya, that morning, who was also on her way to a conference. They had tense words the night before and he wanted to reach out to her. When she didn't answer her phone, he called her office and learned his wife had lied to him.

Max’s POV was well-done. I have no sympathy for him or Anya. However, the execution molded the character very well. It was impactful, more than Tress or Noah’s POV. I listened to this one through Hoopla and I was impressed with the narrator. The emotion she showed when she was Noah speaking to Max in the hospital was really something.She still spends her nights and days writing in a very professional and mature manner. Which roughly translates to ‘type, panic, eat a biscuit, type and panic, eat another biscuit, type and panic’, then repeat for ninety thousand words. Told over the course of 24 hours, 2 couples have their lives radically changed. As summed up on Goodreads "One Day with You - two fateful goodbyes, two unexpected hellos, and 24 hours that change everything." I can't say it any better than that. It was exciting, relatable, perhaps heartwarming to read the story at first, but as time went on, I could only curse the characters, and the impending depression that I ended up dealing with, after having finished the book.
